L'ORFEO
RING AWARD / Schauspielhaus Graz, 2025
Opera by Claudio Monteverdi in the final of RING AWARD 25

This staging of Orfeo, presented in the final of RING AWARD 2025, reimagines the ancient myth within the confines of a small apartment. Orpheus, now an aging man, mourns the death of Eurydice. As grief consumes him, the borders between memory and reality dissolve: the apartment transforms into an underworld, the river Styx begins to flood the space, and echoes of the past return. In this intimate, surreal setting, Orfeo becomes a meditation on aging, loss, and the quiet vastness of loneliness.
The production was awarded the Dramaturgy Prize and the Province of Styria Prize at Ring Award 2025
